The two actors fell for each other while filming the show's pilot in the early 1990s, an attraction cemented after a flash flood forced Lando to rescue Seymour in his pickup truck. Despite their chemistry, the relationship hit an impasse. Seymour, already a mother and more than a decade older than Lando, believed she could not have more children. Lando, then in his early 30s, remained committed to a traditional future featuring four children and a younger spouse.
Seymour famously proved her own initial doubts wrong by welcoming twin sons, John and Kristopher, with her then-husband James Keach in 1995. "I showed him," she joked during the October 17 panel. The former couple navigated the awkwardness of filming intimate scenes for the show's six-season run, eventually moving on to other partners. Today, the two share a long-standing friendship; Seymour even housed Lando and his family at her Malibu home following the 2025 California wildfires.
