Van Meter spent five years compiling the authorized biography of Kim Kardashian, yet he hit a wall when attempting to secure input from the socialite who helped launch her career. Despite Kardashian’s personal outreach to Hilton, communication stalled through assistants and publicists. Van Meter noted that while Kardashian was reportedly frustrated by the outcome, Hilton’s camp cited a hectic schedule and administrative oversights for the failed meetings. The friction echoes a past rivalry that once defined the early 2000s tabloid landscape.
Beyond the Hilton snub, the biography also excludes Kanye West. Van Meter decided against interviewing Kardashian’s ex-husband, citing ethical concerns regarding his mental health and recent public behavior. He argued that West’s inclusion risked overshadowing the narrative, noting that the rapper's absence helped maintain the book’s focus on Kardashian’s own trajectory. The biography is scheduled for release on October 27.
