Nicolas Cage Faces Mounting Stress Over Malibu Sinkhole Crisis

A 25-foot deep sinkhole has swallowed the driveway of Nicolas Cage’s $10.5 million Malibu estate, leaving the actor in a state of volatile frustration. As the oceanfront property faces potential structural ruin following intense rainfall and coastal erosion, the star is reportedly struggling to manage the crisis from afar.

The damage to the Sea Level Drive mansion, originally built by broadcasting mogul Jose Liberman, has escalated into a broader neighborhood emergency. Malibu officials have red-tagged 31 homes in the area, cutting off utility lines and vehicle access as the ground continues to shift. For Cage, who purchased the property only two years ago, the financial uncertainty and the slow pace of repair permits have become a primary source of domestic tension.

While his wife, Riko Shibata, attempts to mitigate his anxiety, sources suggest the actor remains locked in an angry headspace, frequently lamenting a sense of being cursed. Despite his reported outbursts, logistical efforts to stabilize the site are underway. Cage has secured four city permits for soil sampling, debris removal, and the installation of protective sandbags. However, with the Sea Level Drive Homeowners Association overseeing the site and recent complications involving a contractor change, the timeline for restoring the property remains stalled.
