Seth Robinson, CompTIA’s vice president of research, notes that the technology has reached a new stage of maturity where effective governance is no longer optional. Cybersecurity currently ranks as the second-largest barrier to adoption, trailing only the ongoing struggle to balance human labor with AI-powered agents. The urgency is reflected in corporate policy: 98% of surveyed companies prioritize risk management, while 96% emphasize data protection and privacy.
Investment patterns mirror these concerns. Nearly half of all organizations plan to prioritize cybersecurity within their AI budgets, matching the allocation for employee training. To navigate this landscape, CompTIA recommends that businesses ground their AI policies in existing compliance frameworks rather than reinventing internal protocols. Success now requires cross-functional collaboration between legal, IT, and security teams, alongside a concerted effort to close technical skill gaps that threaten to derail digital transformation projects.
