Speaking on Amy Poehler’s "Good Hang" podcast, McCartney confessed that the prospect of cold-calling the folk legend feels daunting. Despite having shared backstage moments at the 2016 Desert Trip festival—where a complimentary Dylan once told him, "You’re a star"—McCartney feels the two never developed a close rapport. He joked that reaching out to Dylan would feel like a cold call to someone living in a sleeping bag out in the wilderness.
Beyond his musical aspirations, McCartney turned his attention to the upcoming Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes. He expressed a specific, playful grievance regarding the casting of Paul Mescal, who is set to play him, alongside Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. McCartney insisted that the band members were roughly the same height, with Ringo Starr being slightly shorter, and he has been monitoring production photos to ensure historical accuracy. Upon noticing that the 5-foot-11 Mescal appears shorter than the 6-foot-2 Dickinson, McCartney sent a blunt text to Mendes: "SAM! SMALLER! Don’t do this!" While the director attributed the visual discrepancy to the actors' stride patterns, McCartney remains vigilant about how his likeness is portrayed ahead of the films' April 2028 release.
