Dakota Johnson Rejects Cadaver-Based Cosmetic Trends

At the New York premiere of her film Verity, Dakota Johnson traded the ubiquitous blurred-lip trend for a sharp, cranberry-toned pout, signaling a return to precision. Yet, her most striking statement this week wasn't on the red carpet, but a visceral rejection of the burgeoning cosmetic trend involving cadaver-derived fat injections.

The 37-year-old actress expressed genuine horror during a recent appearance on Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast when host Chloe Malle detailed the rise of procedures using human fat tissue from deceased donors. Often dubbed the “Zombie BBL” on social media, these treatments—such as the injectable alloClae—have sparked widespread online debate, with users comparing the practice to scenarios from horror cinema. For Johnson, the concept represents a clear boundary in an industry increasingly obsessed with extreme aesthetic modifications.

While her red-carpet appearance in a shimmering Calvin Klein set drew attention to her refined look, it also reignited speculation regarding her own relationship with plastic surgery. Dr. Omar Tillo, a medical director at the CREO Clinic, suggested that the actress’s sculpted appearance might point to procedures like buccal fat removal and a brow lift. Johnson, however, maintains that she is currently in a period of personal equilibrium. In a recent interview with ELLE, she noted that her professional partnership with Calvin Klein aligns with a stage of life where she feels increasingly calm, centered, and comfortable in her own skin.
