The logistics centre, currently under construction as part of a project launched in 2026, aims to consolidate the retailer’s hotel, restaurant, and catering supply chain. According to Pekka Tala, Kesko’s development director, the partnership focuses on building a system capable of long-term scalability rather than just addressing immediate throughput needs. The facility will utilize a hybrid model, balancing manual processes with automated pallet storage, high-bay solutions, and shuttle-based goods-to-person picking stations.
KNAPP, which has a history of collaboration with the retailer, intends to deploy software that allows for more intelligent, adaptive operations across diverse customer order types. Installation of the technology is slated to commence in 2028, with full integration expected by 2030. Rudolf Hansl, Vice President of Food Retail Solutions at KNAPP, noted that this project serves as a strategic expansion for the firm within the Nordic grocery sector, creating a foundation for future growth in complex supply chain environments.
